Miley Cyrus finally seems to be a changed woman.

The infamous pop star, as we all know, became a household name more so after she ditched her good girl “Hannah Montana” image and evolved into this edgy albeit disturbing personality by way of her racy stage and music video performances, outrageous antics, and eyebrow-raising fashion statements. But it seems that’s all been dying down.

But in her cover story for the upcoming October issue of Elle, Cyrus contradicts that fame-hungry persona. She told the magazine:

[A year ago] I had to do the [A Very Murray Christmas] premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again.

She further explains:

Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red? Because I’m ‘important’? Because I’m ‘famous’? That’s not how I roll. It’s like a skit – it’s like ‘Zoolander.’

The changed singer goes on to admit that she sometimes feels ashamed about her success.

For a long time, I couldn’t sleep because I just felt so guilty. I was covered in rashes because I was so stressed. Even today, I dropped my water on my hike and felt like such an asshole. There are children being sold into sex slavery; how can I go on a hike right now?

We’re glad someone as famous as Miley is having this realization. Indeed, it can change any person’s perspective. But the question is, will she really be able to stick to her word?

Do you think Miley can really stay away from red carpets?
